Bogota weather
I expect that Bogotá would come second to Britain in terms of how often people complain about the weather. Colombia lies on the equator, and as such does not have seasons as we do in Europe. There is the drier half of the year (January to June) and the wetter half of the year (July to December). During the dry season, the weather tends to be hot and sunny in the mornings, cloudy in the afternoons, and cold in the evenings (particularly if it’s also windy), due to its altitude (2600m). During the wet season, it tends to be hot and sunny in the mornings, pissing down with rain in the afternoons (I’ve christened it ‘the afternoon monsoon’), and cold in the evenings.
Thus I’ve discovered that in Bogota during the wet season, the umbrella is a multifunctional necessity. It stops you from getting sunburnt in the morning and drenched in the afternoon. If you forget it, you’re screwed for the whole day.
